Lakota East Football saw its successful 2026 campaign come to an end Friday, October 30, falling to Winton Woods 21-3 in the opening round of the OHSAA Division I Region 4 playoffs.
The No. 12-seeded Thunderhawks faced a difficult road challenge against the fourth-seeded Warriors, battling throughout the contest before seeing their postseason run conclude.
Under Head Coach Jon Kitna, East finished the season 6-5 overall and 5-4 in GMC competition, marking another important step forward for the program.
The Thunderhawks entered postseason play riding a two-game winning streak, defeating Colerain 41-23 on October 16 before closing the regular season with an impressive 45-13 victory over Sycamore on October 23.
Throughout the season, East featured an explosive offensive attack led by quarterback Nile Knutson, running back Brayden Auguste and receivers Carter Jones and Braxton Thurman.
Among the season's highlights were an impressive 41-14 opening victory over Centerville and a memorable 24-20 Homecoming win over Mason.
Although the postseason ended earlier than the Thunderhawks hoped, the 2026 campaign provided plenty of memorable moments and another foundation for continued success.
Congratulations to Coach Kitna, his staff and the entire East Football program, especially the seniors, on their dedication and accomplishments this fall!
