The 2026 Lakota East Track and Field team returns this outdoor season eager to compete for a championship. The men and women return with key sprinters, distance runners, and field event specialists, a great mix of strong talent across the board.
The sprints & hurdle group is led by Head Coach Rodney Heath, along with coaches
Kimberly Heath and Mike Dwyer. On the women's side. Seniors Mikaylah Chandler and
Qiersten McClain will also be key contributors in the sprints and hurdle group. Mikaylah was
a state qualifier in the 100m hurdles her freshman and junior years and was a huge factor
on both state finalist 4x200 & 4x100 relay teams as a freshman and junior. She finished
third overall in the 100 hurdles last spring.
Qiersten McClain is another huge factor in the squad in the 400m. She was a major factor
in our 4x400 relay, which finished on the podium at the state championship in 2024.
Qiersten looks to be a key contributor for our 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams as well. These
seniors have deep postseason experience and look to finish the season stronger at the
state championship in 2026.
On the men's side. We have Camden Pham leading our sprint hurdles group. Cam is
coming off an outstanding freshman year, in which he qualified for regionals in the 300
hurdles. This year, he is looking to run under 39 secs in the 300 hurdles this spring. He is
also a key contributor on our boys' 4x4 relay team. We look forward to seeing who else will
have a breakout season for our men’s group.
The girls' distance group is once again led by the perennial powerhouse trio of Molly Deardorff, Ava Dickenson, and Elise Brown. With the addition of freshman phenom Alyssa Browne, there is no limit to what this group can accomplish. These four expect to be dominant in their respective individual events before teaming up to form what is sure to be one of the best 4x800 relays in the state. They are poised to continue to rewrite the school record book, as they have throughout their careers. Watch out for these four to be well represented at the State Championships in June.
For the boys distance team, senior Reilly Meyer and sophomore Jacob Turner expect to hold down the 3200, looking to make some noise at both the conference and regional levels. Senior 800 runner Elijah Grissom has been showcasing a rare combination of power and speed, and expects to have a breakout year in his event. These three lead a strong group of underclassmen whose winter training all but ensures an impressive spring season.
