2025 Season Outlook

After a strong 2024 campaign that saw the Lakota East Thunderhawks finish 3rd in the Greater Miami Conference (GMC) and make a deep postseason run as District Runner-Ups, the program enters the 2025 season with a fresh look and renewed energy.

The team graduated 14 seniors, many of whom were key contributors both on and off the field. Their departure marks the end of an era, but also opens the door for a new generation of Thunderhawks to make their mark.

This year’s squad features a youthful core, including 11 sophomores who are eager to prove themselves at the varsity level. While the team may lack experience, it makes up for it with enthusiasm, athleticism, and a hunger to compete. Several newcomers have already shown promise during preseason training, and the coaching staff is optimistic about their development throughout the season.

Returning upperclassmen will be crucial in providing leadership and stability as the younger players adjust to the pace and physicality of varsity competition. The team’s tactical identity is expected to evolve, with a focus on high energy, quick transitions, and building chemistry across the lineup.

Head Coach Jeremy Hilen and his staff are embracing the challenge of rebuilding while maintaining the program’s competitive standards. With a mix of returning talent and emerging prospects, Lakota East aims to stay in the hunt for a top spot in the GMC and make another strong postseason push.

Key Storylines to Watch:

  • How quickly the sophomore class adapts to varsity play
  • Leadership from returning players in guiding the new roster
  • Tactical adjustments to suit a younger, faster squad
  • Building momentum early in the season to boost confidence

The 2025 season promises to be one of growth, grit, and opportunity. As the Thunderhawks take the field, fans can expect a team that plays with heart and a vision for the future.
