HAWKS HOST WEST THURSDAY

The WRESTLING team had 3 separate events this past weekend.

The Freshman team went to Centerville to compete at the Buckeye Classic Invitational.  16 teams from around the State were at this event.  Dawson Reip avenged his lone defeat on the day by beating his opponent from Olentangy Liberty in the 3rd place match.   Bryce Coning pinned his way into the Championship match but fell short of the title and finished in 2nd place. Bryce Meehan was the champion of the 190-pound weight class, beating his Olentangy opponent 10-8 in the championship contest.

-------------------------

A combination squad of varsity and JV wrestlers participated in a varsity tournament at Reading's Charlie Moore Invitational.  The split squad placed 9th out of 18 teams.  Place winners were as follows: Evan Malay 4th, Dylan Kallenbach 4th, Vincent Molfetta 5th, Matt Malay 6th.

--------------------------

A partial varsity squad competed in the Western Brown Hammer and Anvil Invitational.  4 of our 9 that competed placed in the tournament and the team finished 9th out of 24 teams.  Jag Singh and Evan Watterson both finished with a 3-2 record on the day and finished in 6th place.  Watterson continues to improve at a rapid pace.  In DJ Stanley's first varsity tournament, he finished with a 4-1 record and placed 5th in the 285-pound weight class.  Traves Tideswell had an outstanding tournament and was the Champion of the 157-weight class.  Traves beat the #4, #1, and #2 seeds on his path to the Championship.

Overall, a solid effort from all three teams who competed.  Several wrestlers making good improvements as we head into "the grind" of the season.  The couple of weeks at the end of January and the beginning of February are difficult but can lead to success at the end of the season.

Our next event is Thursday, Jan 19 HOME dual vs Lakota West.  Jr high and youth matches start at 4:30. JV after, then varsity at approximately 7:00.

Should be an excellent night of Lakota Wrestling!!!
