Lakota East junior Jacob Turner is headed to the OHSAA Division I State Cross Country Championships!

Turner delivered an outstanding performance Saturday, October 31, at the Southwest Regional Championships in Troy, finishing 34th overall with a time of 16:10.0 to earn an individual qualifying berth to the State Meet.

His performance helped lead the Thunderhawks to a 16th-place finish among 26 teams competing in one of Ohio's toughest regional fields.

Turner's state qualification represents another major milestone in an impressive junior season.

Earlier this fall, Turner recorded a personal-best 16:22.6 at the Fairmont Firebird Invitational, moving into 19th place on Lakota East's all-time cross country performance list at that point in the season.

Saturday's regional effort was even faster, demonstrating the junior's continued development and ability to produce his best performances when the competition is at its highest level.

East previously finished fifth at the GMC Championships, and Turner's advancement to State provides an exciting conclusion to the team's postseason competition.

Congratulations to Jacob and the entire Boys Cross Country program on an outstanding accomplishment!

NEXT UP: Saturday, November 7 — OHSAA Division I State Cross Country Championships at Fortress Obetz, Obetz, Ohio.
