Lakota East Girls Volleyball concluded its 2026 season Saturday, October 31, falling to GMC rival Sycamore in the OHSAA Division I District Championship at Butler High School.

The Thunderhawks battled the Aviators throughout the contest before falling in three competitive sets, 25-22, 25-23, 25-18.

Under Head Coach Ellis, East finished its season with a 13-11 overall record and 6-3 mark in GMC competition.

The Thunderhawks advanced to the District Championship following an impressive four-set victory over Fairmont on Wednesday, October 28.

Entering the postseason as the No. 9 seed, East demonstrated its competitiveness and determination in reaching the district title match.

Saturday's contest against Sycamore was tightly contested, particularly in the opening two sets, where just five combined points separated the teams.

Although the season ended one victory short of a regional berth, the Thunderhawks can take pride in their postseason accomplishments and the effort displayed throughout the fall.

Congratulations to Coach Ellis, his staff and the entire East Girls Volleyball team on a successful season!

FINAL RECORD: 13-11 overall, 6-3 GMC — OHSAA District Runner-Up.
