GIRLS SOCCER DEFEATS ANDERSON
The Thunderhawks hosted Anderson Raptors last night at the Hawks' Nest.
The JV squad battled back from an early deficit for a hard-earned tie 3-3. Sophomore Randi Morgan notched a goal and an assist. Sophomore Samantha Katona had an assist. Sophomores Maggie Keggan had a goal along with Megan Kamphuis. And Freshman Abby Langevin also notched an assist.
The Varsity squad played with a depleted squad with numerous starters' nursing injuries. The team rallied to overcome those issues and came away with a 1-0 victory. Senior Lucy Carlin earned the shutout along with a stout defense of Senior Abby Burghard, Sophomore Lauren Matlack, and Senior MacKenzie Blaylock.
The scoring was a beautiful baseline run by Senior Marissa Retzsch and the ultimate finish by Junior Sidney Zawilla.
The Hawks return to play this Saturday at 1/3 PM against powerhouse Zionsville HS in Indiana. The Hawks will then face off versus the storied Centerville Elks on Monday night in Centerville at 5:30 and 7:15 PM.
