The Lakota East men’s cross country team brought home the championship trophy on Saturday at their own Lakota East Fall Classic meet. Senior, Marshall Novean, ran a personal best time of 16:45 to lead the Thunderhawk men to the title on the 5k (3.1-mile) Championship Course at Voice of America MetroPark.  That time placed Marshall 6th overall out of 132 runners and made him the 25th fastest cross country runner in school history.

Sophomore, Evan Aponte, was the second Hawk across the line placing 9th overall in 16:56.  That performance lands Aponte on the all-time top performer's list for Lakota East at #32.  Reilly Meyer (freshman) was the next East runner across the line, placing 10th overall with a time of 17:00.  Sean Castillo (senior) and Blake Gibbs (sophomore) rounded out the top 5 scorers for Lakota East placing 20th and 23rd overall with times of 17:17 and 17:24.

In the men’s Open race, seniors Tyler Linam and Traves Tideswell ran up in the front of the pack the entire race.  Linam went on to be the overall champion, out of 213 runners, in the Open race with a time of 18:16.  Tideswell finished a very respectable 4th place overall in a very close Open race in 18:20.  The Thunderhawk men placed 2nd out of 11 teams in the Open race.

Next up for Lakota East Cross Country is the Lebanon Running Warrior Invitational at Lebanon High School next Saturday, September 3rd.
