GIRLS' SOCCERÂ DEFEATS FAIRFIELD

The Hawk Girls Soccer team opened the 2023 GMC campaign at home Thursday versus the Fairfield Indians.
On a beautiful night for soccer, the JV squad handed the Indians their first loss 1-0.
The Varsity squad turned in a gritty performance in a physical battle. When all was said and done the Hawks moved to 1-0 on GMC play with a 4-2 decision. Senior Captain Josie Bencic scored first with an assist from Senior Captain Maddie Burghard.
Junior Randy Morgan tallied the next goal with an assist from Bencic. Morgan added her second goal unassisted and Junior Jessa Bush buried an unassisted goal as well.
Next up for EAST (2-4, 1-0 GMC) is another league opponent, Oak Hills, next Thursday in an away game.
