Lakota East sophomore Alyssa Browne continued her outstanding 2026 season Saturday, October 31, earning an individual berth to the OHSAA Division I State Cross Country Championships.

Competing at the Southwest Regional Championships in Troy, Browne finished 16th overall with a time of 19:12.9, leading the Thunderhawks to a 15th-place team finish among 23 competing schools.

Browne's performance capped a season of remarkable consistency and leadership for the East Girls Cross Country program.

Throughout the fall, the talented sophomore established herself as the Thunderhawks' top runner, regularly finishing among the leaders in some of the region's most competitive invitationals.

Her season included a 19:12.5 performance at the Fairmont Firebird Invitational and another impressive effort at the GMC Championships, where East finished fourth overall.

Saturday's regional performance was another demonstration of Browne's ability to compete with the area's elite runners.

Now, the sophomore will have the opportunity to represent Lakota East on Ohio's biggest cross country stage.

Congratulations to Alyssa and the entire Girls Cross Country program on a tremendous season!
