BOYS SOCCER SHUTS DOWN ELDER

HAWKS ADVANCE TO MEET WEST

The East boys soccer team advanced to the sectional finals of the OHSAA tournament after defeating the Elder Panthers Saturday evening by a score of 5-0. Senior, Dylan Stidham, got the Hawks on the board in the 4th minute of play after running down a ball played by junior teammate, Jacob Nguyen making the score 1-0. 

Senior captain, Connor Pletikapich, scored his first goal of the night when he finished a cross from senior, Andrew Harper, four minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0. Pletikapich added another goal six minutes later after firing a shot 18 yards out from goal, assisted by junior, Gavin Hook, making the score 3-0.

In his return game back from being on the six-week injury reserve list, senior captain, Andrew Shroder scored the Hawk’s 4th goal of the night with 13 minutes left in the first half after a one-touch finish off of junior, Khalid Eid’s cross.

With 8 minutes remaining in the game, senior captain, Braden Anderson finished off the scoring by firing a shot 20 yards out from goal that was assisted by Pletikapich making the final score 5-0. 

Junior goalkeeper, Kobe Foster recorded seven saves on the match and earned his 10th shutout of the season. 

The Hawks take on Lakota West Tuesday evening at Princeton High School at 7:00 pm. East’s record moves to 12-4-2 (6-1-2 GMC). East and West played to a 0-0 tie back on Sept. 28th. Tuesday's winner will advance to the District Final on Saturday, Oct. 30th vs. the winner of the Centerville/Kettering Fairmont match.
