The Lakota East Boys Golf Team will be returning to a familiar place for their program.  For the 7th time in the past 8 years, the Thunderhawk Linksters have earned another trip to the OHSAA Boys Golf State Championships.  After missing the cut in 2022,  the Hawks finished third overall at Wednesday's District Championships to punch their ticket to Columbus.  East shot a team score of 306 at Heatherwoode Golf Course, behind overall champion Springboro (293) and 2nd place St. Xavier (301).  The top three teams in the district qualified for state.

East fielded a team of five seniors on Wednesday.  Walker Wood led the way for the Hawks with a 74, Logan Spagnuolo and Bobby Horseman both had  75’s and Nick Collins and Ben Isom each scored 82’s.

“I am so proud of how the men demonstrated toughness and grit," said East head coach Jeff Combs. "Districts and state rounds are never about looking pretty or perfect ball-striking. It is about embracing adversity and staying positive. Our guys have really matured and our playing well at the right time.”

East Boys Golf will compete against the best of Ohio on Friday, 10/20, and Saturday, 10/21 at The Ohio State University's Scarlet Course.  East finished 5th in 2021 with alum Joe Wilson winning the overall state title.  Their best finish at state was 3rd at the 2019 state championships.
