SOFTBALL WEEKEND UPDATES

Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks fell to Fairfield 5-4 on Thursday on the final play of the game.  The game was tied at four with Fairfield batting in the bottom of the seventh when Kaitlyn Haiber induced K Michaud to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run was scored.

Fairfield opened up scoring in the second inning.  Fairfield scored one run when A Leugers singled. Fairfield evened things up at four in the bottom of the fifth inning.  An error scored one run for Fairfield.

Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks put up four runs in the third inning.  Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks put the pressure on, lead by singles by Halina Schulte and Haiber and a double by Hailey Hensley. R Peters led things off in the pitcher's circle for Fairfield. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out one, and walking zero.

Haiber started the game for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. The bulldog surrendered five runs on nine hits over six and third innings, striking out three. Hensley, Tessa Koziel, Ella Bauman, Leah Arnett, Schulte, and Haiber each collected one hit to lead Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks.

East softball played a makeup game at home vs. Sycamore on Friday. The final score was 12-3. No other details were available.

East Softball fell in a non-conference game on Saturday to Badin. The final score was 6-4. No other information was provided.
