SOFTBALL WEEKEND UPDATES - 4/18/23

Despite a 5-run deficit in the sixth inning, Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks almost came all the way back, eventually falling 10-9 to Lakota West on Friday.  Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks scored four runs in the failed comeback on a single by Hailey Hensley, a single by Hailey Thompson, and a double by Isabella Rodriguez.

Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks was right in it until Lakota West singled in the seventh inning. Lakota West got things started in the first inning.  An error scored one run for Lakota West.


Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks knotted the game up at nine in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Rodriguez doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks scored five runs in the sixth inning.  Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks's offense in the inning came from singles by Hensley and Thompson and a double by Rodriguez.

Lakota West scored four runs in the third inning.  L Feerari, M Stevens, and K Muncy powered the big inning with RBIs.
J Fasig earned the victory on the rubber for Lakota West. The pitcher surrendered five runs on 12 hits over four innings, striking out four and walking one.  Paige T threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Kaitlyn Haiber took the loss for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing ten runs on 12 hits, striking out one, and walking zero.

Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks collected 18 hits on the day.  Halina Schulte, Leah Arnett, Ella Bauman, Tessa Koziel, and Thompson each had multiple hits for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks.  Koziel, Bauman, Arnett, and Schulte all had three hits to lead Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks.

The Hawks fell in a double dip at home on Saturday, losing 14-6 to Ursuline and 15-7 to Fairborn. No details are available.

East (4-10, 3-5) is back in action TODAY at Princeton.
