SWEET SIXTEEN FOR THE HAWKS!

Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks defeated Kettering Fairmont 12-11 on Thursday for a Southwest District Championship! The game was tied at 11 in the top of the seventh when Isabella Rodriguez drew a walk, scoring the go-ahead run. Bats blistered as Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks collected eight hits and KFHS Varsity tallied 16 in the high-scoring game.

Kaleigh Crawford earned the win for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. The starting pitcher gave up 13 hits and nine runs (eight earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two. 

Munoz and Halina Schulte were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. Crawford and Munoz each drove in two runs for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks had patience at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Munoz and Lilly Banks led the team with two walks each.

For East Softball this is the program's 10th District Title with the last one coming in 2019.

The Hawks advance to the Sweet 16 Regional Semi-Finals and will play a familiar foe in the Fairfield Indians. The game is slated for Wednesday, 5/22 at Mason. The winner plays for a state berth versus either Mason or Centerville on Friday, 5/24.
