Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks Defeats Mount Notre Dame Varsity Cougars In Pitcher's Duel
Both teams were strong in the circle on Monday, but Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks defeated Mount Notre Dame Varsity Cougars 2-1 to advance to the District title game.

Karli Damen started the game for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks and recorded 15 outs.

Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the sixth when Abrie Schulte singled, scoring one run.

Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks got on the board in the second inning after Yorie Schulte doubled, scoring one run.

Kat Zielinski singled on a 3-0 count, which helped Mount Notre Dame Varsity Cougars tie the game at one in the top of the fifth.

Kaleigh Crawford earned the win for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. The reliever allowed two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Audrey Gildea took the loss for Mount Notre Dame Varsity Cougars. They went six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out three and walking six. Damen began the game for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking one.

Leah Arnett, Schulte, and Schulte each collected one hit for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. Schulte and Schulte each drove in one run for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Halina Schulte and Damen led the team with two walks each.

McKenna Manley and Zielinski were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Mount Notre Dame Varsity Cougars. Zielinski led Mount Notre Dame Varsity Cougars with one run batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Mount Notre Dame Varsity Cougars stole four bases in the game. Mount Notre Dame Varsity Cougars turned one double play in the game.

East (21-8) will play Kettering Fairmont for a District Title and a berth in the Sweet Sixteen on Thursday, 5/16 at Mason.
