Lakota East nearly pulled off a tremendous second-half comeback Friday night before falling at Fairfield, 35-31.
The Hawks found themselves facing a 35-14 halftime deficit but refused to go away. East outscored Fairfield 17-0 in the second half, cutting into the Indians' advantage and making it a four-point game before time ran out.
Despite the setback, the second-half response demonstrated plenty of fight from the Thunderhawks as they battled all the way to the finish.
East moves to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in GMC play. East hosts Middletown next Friday for Youth Football Night.
