GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY OPENS AT OHSAA PREVIEW

The Lakota East women’s Varsity cross country team had very respectable showings at the OHSAA Early Season Invitational this past Saturday at Fortress Obetz Sports Complex.  Both teams improved on their 2021 team placings at this meet.  

The women’s team placed 31st in 2021 and moved up to 26th this year in the very competitive 44-team field.  The Lady Hawks were led by senior standout, Jocey Willis, who placed 39th overall out of the 380 runners who finished the race.  Jocey’s time was 20:20.4 for the 5k (3.1 mile) race.  Junior, Brooke Wilson, was the #2 runner for East placing 141stoverall in a time of 22:18.  Junior, Meredith Brown, was the next Thunderhawk across the line, right behind Wilson in 22:19. Which placed Meredith 143rd overall.  Rounding out the top 5 scorers for Lakota East were junior Emme Nguyen (197th, 23:08) and senior Hope Keith (241st, 23:45).

Next up for Lakota East Cross Country is their home meet, the Lakota East Fall Classic, which will be held at Voice of America Park on Saturday, August 27th.
