Lakota East fell to Sycamore 49–35 on Saturday in a game defined by offensive struggles and turnovers. Despite strong individual efforts from Payton Buker, Bailey Bacher, and Isadore McCune, the Thunderhawks couldn’t generate enough consistent scoring to stay within striking distance.
Buker led the team with 13 points, adding six rebounds and four steals while serving as East’s most efficient scorer. Bacher followed with 9 points, contributing across the board with six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. McCune chipped in 7 points and three steals, knocking down a pair of threes to keep East in the game early.
As a team, Lakota East shot just 26.3% from the field and committed 19 turnovers, which Sycamore capitalized on to build and maintain control. Despite flashes of defensive energy—highlighted by the team’s 10 steals—the offensive droughts proved too much to overcome.
The Hawks (0-4, 0-1) are back in the Nest on Wednesday for another GMC matchup with Oak Hills.
