Lakota East came up just short in a tightly contested 44–40 loss to Oak Hills last Saturday, battling back and forth before Oak Hills held on down the stretch. The Thunderhawks matched Oak Hills quarter for quarter early, but a narrow margin in the third and fourth periods proved decisive despite Lakota East’s defensive effort and ability to get to the free-throw line.

Bella Sturgill led Lakota East with 13 points and strong work on the glass, while Bailey Bacheradded 12 points and 5 rebounds, attacking the basket and converting at the line. Isadore McCune rounded out the top performers with 8 points, including a pair of three-pointers, as Lakota East pushed until the final buzzer but couldn’t quite close the gap.

East (3-9, 3-3) will visit Sycamore on Wednesday.
