What a way to start the season!

Lakota East Football exploded for 41 first-half points Friday night and rolled to an impressive 41-14 season-opening victory over Centerville on Future Hawks Night.

Quarterback Nile Knutson completed 20-of-29 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns, leading an East offense that piled up 387 total yards, including 310 through the air.

Senior Carter Jones was Knutson's favorite target, grabbing 11 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. Braxton Thurman added six receptions for 95 yards and a score, while Braylen Taylor broke loose for a 60-yard TD reception. Brayden Auguste contributed both a rushing and receiving touchdown.

The East defense was just as impressive, holding Centerville to 173 total yards and only 54 rushing yards. Tra'vion Bailey led the way with 13 tackles, while Simeon Raye added an interception.

NEXT UP: It's rivalry week! East travels to Lakota West on Friday, August 28.
