Football took another big step this past Friday holding off Oak Hills at home 14-7. East put the first points on the board at the 2:34 mark in the first half on a 49-yard interception return for a TD by Carson Shroyer. The Hawks knocked on the door several times after that score but came up short.
Oak Hills tied the game in the fourth quarter to make it 7-7. Chris Bouyer scored the final East TD with 5:46 remaining in the game on a 10-yard pass from Nile Knutson (Tyler Gruber kick good).
The defense got tested in the final minutes and were able to hold off the Highlanders for the win.
East (2-0, 1-0) will visit Mason this Friday. The Comets fell 34-13 at West last Friday.
