Boys Basketball Outlasts Mason in District Semi-Final

BOYS BBALL ADVANCES TO DISTRICT TITLE GAME

Lakota East Boys Basketball battled a determined Mason team on Tuesday at Lakota West in the first round of the boys' playoffs. The Hawks were able to shut down the Mason offense for the final 3 minutes of the game to come-from-behind, winning 32-29.

East trailed the Comets by 3 in the final minutes of the game, until Isaiah King stripped the ball away from a Mason player and converted a layup to set up the late-game East heroics. King finished with 6 points off the bench as Brady Bowman led the Hawks with 15.

The Hawk defense was relentless all night, but especially in the final quarter with the game on the line. With the win, East will meet a familiar foe in the District Championship game.

East will face Oak Hills on Saturday, 3/7 at 1:00 pm at the Cintas Center for a Sweet 16 berth. The Highlanders defeated Lebanon 48-37 to punch their ticket to the title game.

The two teams split a pair of games in the regular season with Oak Hills winning at home 54-47 on 12/9 and East winning at home 40-34 on 1/9.

The winner advances to the Regional Semi-Final on Wednesday, March 11, at 8:00 PM back at the Cintas Center.
