Lakota East Thunderhawks advanced one player into the District round of the OHSAA State Tennis Tournament over the weekend, highlighted by a marathon performance from senior Ethan Vass.
Vass competed for more than five hours on Saturday and ultimately earned the No. 3 seed in the District bracket. He will face No. 2 seed Janek Teply of Mason Comets Boys Tennis on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at the Lindner Tennis Center.
Following the weekend action, Lakota East head coach Dale Woodruff praised the overall effort and resilience of his team.
Vass played over 5 hours of tennis Saturday and earned the #3 seed.
"I was super proud of all the effort that was given last week," said Woodruff. "Every player was eliminated by a District qualifier other than our 1st Doubles team, which lost a close 3 set match.”
The Thunderhawks will now turn their attention to the District bracket, with Vass representing East in the next round of competition.
Ethan will play the #2 seed, Janek Teply from Mason, on Thursday at 9:00 am at the Lindner Tennis Center.
