The Lakota East Boys Cross Country team delivered an outstanding performance at the GMC Championships, turning in a series of lifetime bests and securing a 4th place team finish in one of the most competitive conference meets in recent years.
Senior Reilly Meyer led the way for the Thunderhawks, breaking back under the coveted 16-minute barrier with an impressive 15:55 over the 5K course. His effort earned him First Team All-GMC honors, highlighting a strong return to top form.
The East pack was right behind him, with Jacob Turner and Elijah Grissom both smashing personal records — each cutting roughly 30 seconds off their best times to finish in 16:32 and 16:34, respectively.
Freshman Cayce Weisenborn continued his rapid improvement, dropping an incredible 70 seconds from his previous best to clock 17:12, showing he’s hitting his stride at just the right time. Daniel Gibson, Kris Varbanov, and Lucas Maritato all added lifetime PRs to cap off a stellar team effort for the Hawks.
The combination of breakthrough performances and steady leadership gives Lakota East strong momentum as they move into the postseason, ready to build on their GMC success.
