BASEBALL SWEEPS THE FIREBIRDS!

Lakota East Thunderhawks edged out district rival Lakota West Firebirds 5–4 to complete a season sweep of the Firebirds in 2026 GMC play.

East built an early 3–0 lead through four innings before West rallied with four runs in the fifth to briefly take control. The Thunderhawks answered immediately, pushing across two runs in the top of the sixth to regain the lead, then closing the door in the seventh to secure the one-run victory.

Freshman Maddox Roth delivered a standout performance on the mound, going the distance for East. Roth allowed just six hits while striking out seven in a complete-game effort.

Senior Ben Kuemmel paced the Thunderhawk offense, finishing 2-for-4 with a double. Gavin Bird, Donovan Corbett, and Kuemmel each drove in a run to help fuel the comeback.

With the win, East improves to 17–4 overall and 14–4 in the GMC. The Thunderhawks will travel to Loveland on Tuesday before closing the regular season at Little Miami on Friday.

East enters postseason play as the No. 9 seed in the upcoming district tournament and will host Colerain in opening-round action on Tuesday, May 26.
