BASEBALL FALLS TO FAIRFIELD

Lakota East fell 7–5 to Fairfield on Friday, despite holding a 9–8 edge in hits.

East struck first in the opening inning on a Sullivan single, but Fairfield answered in the third, using a sacrifice bunt and a two-run triple to take a 3–2 lead. The Thunderhawks responded in the fourth when Egloff delivered an RBI single to tie the game at 3–3.

The turning point came in the fifth, as Fairfield capitalized on an error to score two runs, then added another on a steal of home to extend the lead to 6–3. A solo home run in the sixth provided additional insurance.

Egloff led East at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Egloff and Reinhart each recorded two hits. Volker VI started on the mound, allowing three runs over three innings.

Fairfield was led by #11 with two RBIs, while #23 and #44 each collected two hits. Aggressive baserunning also played a role, including a steal of home.

Lakota East (4–3, 1–2) returns home to face Fairfield again on Monday, April 13.
