Bryan Pennix Head Coach bryan.pennix@lakotaonline.com more details

Coach Pennix is a graduate of THE Lakota High School.  During his time at Lakota, he was coached by two Ohio Coaches Hall of Fame members, Bob Dalton and Bob Stoll. Bryan was a GMC champion for the Thunderbirds. 

            After high school, Bryan went on to attend Bowling Green State University.  During his four years at BGSU, Coach Pennix played rugby for the Falcons.  The Falcons won the Mid-American Conference all four years.  He met his wife, Amanda, at BGSU.  They will have been married for 28 years this December 17th.  Their daughter, Elizabeth, is 23 years old and their son, Andy, is 20 years old.

He started his career as an assistant coach at Reading High School for 7 years where he was able to work with another Ohio Coaches Hall of Fame coach, Dick Engel.  The Blue Devils won multiple league and sectional titles and one district title.  They also had multiple state placers and two state champions.

After that, Coach Pennix was the head coach at Blanchester for 13 years before he became the athletic director for the Wildcats.  The hard-working student athletes and their supportive families helped earn many accomplishments.

Jordan Dawson Assistant Coach more details

Jordan is a Blanchester High School graduate.   He was a 4-time varsity letter winner for Coach Pennix’s wrestling team.  He was a 1st team all-conference athlete and captain of the 2013 Dual Meet Regional Championship team.  He has 3 years of wrestling coaching experience. He is married with 2 kids and works as a corrections officer.

Jason Dean Assistant Coach more details

Jason is a Harrison High School graduate and Army veteran.  He also attended Northern Kentucky University.

He has coached at all levels during his 27 years of wrestling coaching experience.  He has coached Jr High and High school state champions and built a depleted Winton Woods program into a top ten finisher at the district tournament.  One of his former wrestlers won a National Title last year while attending Mt St Joe.

Jason is in his 23rd year of teaching and currently teaches in the Cincinnati Public School district.  He and his wife, Michelle, have three daughters.  A college freshman, high school junior and a kindergartener.

Jacob Landers Assistant Coach more details

Jacob graduated in 2012 from Lakota East where he wrestled for four years and was a 2012 GMC champion.  Jacob also qualified to represent Ohio on the National team twice. He went to college at Baldwin Wallace University and graduated in 2016.  He wrestled all four years for the Yellowjackets.  

He has three years of coaching experience, with the last 2 at LaSalle High School and as a coach for Ohio National.  At LaSalle he helped them reach two top 5 team finishes at the state tournament.  He currently works for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as the Wrestling representative for Ohio.  

Jacob has been married for 5 years and has two children under age three.

John Landers Assistant Coach more details

John is a graduate of Hamilton High school and Miami University.  He started his 34-year coaching career in 1985.  He has coached at all levels, including as a Varsity head coach during a 15 year stay at Middletown High School.  

His wife, Lisa is an English teacher at East.  He has three children, Lindsey, Jacob, and Paige plus two grandchildren.  John is in his 31st year as a teacher and is currently working as a Secondary Transition Coordinator at the Union Day Therapeutic school.

Keith Pennix Assistant Coach more details

Keith is also a graduate of THE Lakota High School and wrestled for Bob Stoll. He was GMC, Sectional, and District champion and two-time state placer, taking 6th his junior year and 2nd his senior year.  During high school he made the Ohio National team 4 times, was a two-time All-American placing 6th and 8th.  He also traveled to Japan as a member of the national team.

Keith wrestled for Ohio University and played rugby for the Bobcats.  He met his wife Jen while at OU.  They have been married for 23 years and have three kids.  Max, Sam, and Sophie. 

He has 5+ years of coaching experience and works for Travelers Insurance Group.

Matt Preston Assistant Coach more details

Matt has been a part of the East wrestling program for the last several seasons.  He also coaches football for the Thunderhawks freshman football team.  His past coaching experience and military service experience make him a valuable member of our staff.
