Coach Kuhlman is starting his 7th year as the Boys' Volleyball Head Coach at Lakota East High School and his 8th overall as a coach in the program. During his seven years as head coach, Kuhlman has led the Thunderhawks to two conference titles (2024, 2025). Coach Kuhlman has been selected two times as conference coach of the year (2024, 2025) and regional coach of the year in 2024. Kuhlman also served as the girls’ varsity volleyball assistant coach at Milford High School for 4 years and coached club volleyball at Ohio Premier for 4 years as well. He is a graduate of Lakota East High School and was a 4-year varsity setter for the boys' volleyball program from 2011-2015. Kuhlman played collegiate club volleyball at Bowling Green State University where he graduated and earned his bachelors in math education. He also earned his master's in educational administration from Xavier University. Kuhlman is a math teacher at Lakota East High School.

Coach Hess is entering her first year as the Boys’ Volleyball Varsity Assistant Coach at Lakota East, but has been coaching the sport of volleyball since 2001. Previous high school coaching includes the Girls’ programs at: Wyoming (7), St. Ursula Academy (2), Indian Hill (2) and Summit Country Day (5). During this tenure, she has received many Conference, District and even State coaching awards. Hess has coached girls club volleyball at Elevation since 2008, and this was her second year coaching boys club volleyball; first at Cincy Elite in 2025 and then assisting with the pre-season training at 513 this past fall/winter. Hess attended the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP program, majoring in Industrial Design and earning her Bachelor of Science and Design while playing club volleyball and starting her coaching career. Karen is currently employed by J&J MedTech as a Regulatory Affairs Business Product Owner.

Jesse Callahan is starting his first year as the JV head coach in the Lakota High School Boys Volleyball Program. Last year, he assisted the JV team to a strong finish at the top of the GMC. Previous to that, Jesse was the Varsity assistant coach for Lakota East Girls Volleyball for two years. He also coached 7th/8th grade boys in the Lakota East Youth Volleyball program for three years. Early in his career, Jesse spent two years helping to build the Boys Volleyball Program at Northmont High School. Jesse played high school volleyball at Vandalia-Butler High School. He is an avid fan of all aspects of the sport. He is currently a teacher at Sycamore Junior High School, and has spent 21 years teaching middle school age youth.

Amy has a passion for sharing the sport of volleyball with young athletes and teaching skill fundamentals and team game play. She has been coaching volleyball in the Cincinnati area for 25+ years. Amy served as the Varsity girls head coach at Milford for 7 years and at Miami Valley Christian Academy for 14 years. Also, she has experience coaching and training at several local clubs including Ohio Premier and Cincy Crush. After playing her high school volleyball Anderson, she played collegiately for four years at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. Outside of the gym, Amy is a wife, a mom of two daughters, a math teacher/tutor, and a math curriculum writer/editor/consultant.

Coach Michael has been coaching Volleyball since 2014. This will be his 7th year as a part of the Lakota East Boys Volleyball Program. Michael has been coaching Girls Volleyball at Wyoming High School since 2015. Michael played 3 years of Varsity Volleyball at Edgewood High School. Michael has owned his own graphics/sign business since 2010.
